On the occasion of 2nd Anniversary of Akkara Foundation Kavitha Rani Ranjith (District Program Officer, ICDS Kasaragod) has inaugurated the programme and handed over the prize for the winner of Competition conducted on behalf of 2nd Anniversary.
Occupational Day Celebration
Akkara Foundation Centre for Child Development has celebrated Onam festival with our therapy family. Magician Balachandran Kottody was the chief guest. He performed magic and music with flute to the children.
Akkara Thanal Centre for Residential Care for person with disability Centre stone was laid on 25/08/2022 .The Foundation stone laying ceremony for the Residential care was laid by Smt.Mini P V (president Muliyar Grams Panchayat) in the presence of Abdul Aziz Akkara (Chairman, Akkara Foundation), and the chief guest of the ceremony was Dr.Idrees (Chairman, Daya Rehabilitation Trust) .The ceremony was a grand success with the presence of around 200 participants.
Health Awareness Seminar At Badiadka
Akkara foundation in collaboration with St. Joseph’s College Pilathara and Badiadkka Grama Panchayath organized an awareness programme on the topic ‘Disablities in Children and Early Intervention’ at Badiadkka Panchayath Kudumbasree hall on 1st February 2020. The programme was presided by Mrs. Zaibunisa (Vice President, Badiadka GP) and inaugurated by Mr. K. N. Krishna Bhatt (President, Badiadka GP). Mr. Jobin C Valsan the programme coordinator of Akkara Foundation welcomed the congregation. Mr.Balakrishna Shetty (Ward Member, Badiadka GP) & Mr. Moideen Poovadka (Palliative leader, Akkara Foundation) expressed their felicitation. Mr. Jinil Raj J R (Chief physiotherapist, Akkara Foundation) took awareness class and also conducted an interaction session with the audience and gave guidelines for them.
Kumbol Ali Thangal and Muliyar Panchayat President Khalid Bellippady inaugurated the Institute for Child Development under the Kotoor-based Akkara Foundation. A physiotherapy unit with modern amenities, has been established by the initiative of Akkara Foundation which has been working for the benefit of the physically and mentally challenged since last one year. All facilities, such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, aquatic therapy, suspension therapy, psychotherapy, counseling, special education, advanced assistive technology and Montessori school will be established in the near future. Muliyar panchayat president Khalid Bellipady and former Uduma Constituency MLA Kunhiraman hoisted the flag and read the preamble of the Constitution and expressed the solidarity and respect to the Constitution of India. Former Uduma constituency MLA K V Kunhiraman, Muliyar panchayat vice president Geetha Gopalan, panchayat ward member M Madhavan, professor MA Rahman, Social activist KB Mohammed Kunhi, Kollambaady Abdulkhadar Saadi, Health Inspectors Suresh and B Ashraf, Abey Kuttiyanam, B C Kumaran, Siraj Faizy, Aziz Ashraf Panathur greeted the audience. District President of the Child Protection Team Moideen Poovadka thanked the congregation.
The Akkara Foundation, headquartered in Kottur, Muliyar, conducted boating with patients under the palliative wing. Thirty-five patients including cancer, paralysis, cerebral palsy, autism, kidney problems and patients with geriatric disease along with foundation workers, boated for hours.
For the first time in their life, many enjoyed boating and sailing. For a while they forgot all the pain and hardships.
The team was led by Mohammed Yasir, Project Manager of Akkara Foundation, Palliative Leader Moideen Poovadka, Palliative Nurse Padmini, Physiotherapist Jinil, Nikhil, Social Worker Jobin, Volunteers Maqsood Poovadka and Shamsudhin.
Akkara foundation palliative wing visited Kerala State School Kalotsavam 2019, Kanhangad and visited Exhibition Centre and drama stage. 12 patients along with their families, staff of Akkara foundation and volunteers of NSS Volunteers from LBS Govt. College of Engineering and Social Work Trainees from St. Joseph’s college Pilathara spend a day in Kalolsavam Nagar. It was a memorable event for the patients who were restricted in a room.
Established in 2018, Akkara Foundation Bekal is a Non-profitable Organization based at Bekal in Kasaragod District of Kerala. The trust has been formed primarily to initiate medical and psycho-social assistance in the upliftment of physically and mentally challenged individuals.
