Physiotherapy Camp & Volunteer Training

Akkara Foundation has conducted a physiotherapy camp at Mulleria, Kasaragod. The camp facilitated a detailed assessment by professional eminent therapists Mr. Fayas and Mr. Ramees, more than 25 patients were attended the camp.

The camp has inaugurated by Khalid Bellippady, the president of Muliyar Panchayath and presided by advocate AP Usha the standing committee chairperson of Kasaragod District Panchayath. In the function, we distributed a medical bed and water bed to Babu (Paraplegia Patient). The eminent and local personalities of political parties and social activists have participated in the function and they appreciated the services of the Akkara Foundation to the society. Vijayakumar, the standing committee chairman of Karadka Panchayath, Health inspectors Suresh Kumar & B Ashraf, social activist KB Muhammed Kunji, Father Anoop, Ashraf Faizy, Reguram Bellal, BC Kumaran, Dr. Anitha, Akkara Foundation Project Manager Mohammed Yasir were addressed the gathering. The Block Panchayath Palliative Nurse Mrs. Ranjusha led the palliative volunteer training program.

World Disability Day Celebration

The Person with Disabilities often faces many challenges in the world, one of them is loneliness and exclusiveness from the mainstream of the society, so the United Nations proclaimed the theme of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities is Empowering person with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality. This theme focuses on the empowering person with disabilities for inclusive, equitable and sustainable development envisaged in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

For the practicability of the theme, Akkara Foundation has organized a gathering of differently-abled people and their families at Greenwoods School Auditorium, Palakkunnu on December 3 in collaboration with AKWRF (All Kerala Wheelchair Rights Federation). More than 150 persons and their family members have participated. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Sajith Babu IAS the District Collector of Kasaragod. The famous film artist Mammooty gifted 10 wheelchairs to the event and the collector distributed to the needy. The eminent and local personalities of political parties and social activists have participated in the function.

One of the colourful parts of the event was the roadshow rally of differently-abled people by wheelchairs and three tire scooters. Some of the differently-abled artists were performed in cultural programs on the stage. The whole day they were spending theirs by sharing their feelings and emotions amongst them.

Palliative Wing Inauguration

Akkara Foundation started its works by initiating a palliative care unit with its operational area in Muliyar and Karadka Panchayaths. Akkara Foundation opened a temporary project office in a rented building in Kotoor. Ashraf Asharafi led the opening prayer. Mrs. Geetha Gopalan, the Panchayath Vice-President presided the inaugural meeting. Mr. Seetharama Bellullaya. Mr. M A Rahman, Odakuzhal Award winner were the chief guests. Mr. Shafi Haji Malika inaugurated the Palliative Service. Mr. Abdul Aziz Akkara, Chairman of Akkara Foundation detailed the proposed project.
