The Person with Disabilities often faces many challenges in the world, one of them is loneliness and exclusiveness from the mainstream of the society, so the United Nations proclaimed the theme of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities is Empowering person with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality. This theme focuses on the empowering person with disabilities for inclusive, equitable and sustainable development envisaged in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

For the practicability of the theme, Akkara Foundation has organized a gathering of differently-abled people and their families at Greenwoods School Auditorium, Palakkunnu on December 3 in collaboration with AKWRF (All Kerala Wheelchair Rights Federation). More than 150 persons and their family members have participated. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Sajith Babu IAS the District Collector of Kasaragod. The famous film artist Mammooty gifted 10 wheelchairs to the event and the collector distributed to the needy. The eminent and local personalities of political parties and social activists have participated in the function.

One of the colourful parts of the event was the roadshow rally of differently-abled people by wheelchairs and three tire scooters. Some of the differently-abled artists were performed in cultural programs on the stage. The whole day they were spending theirs by sharing their feelings and emotions amongst them.
