PALLIATIVE FAMILY GET TOGETHER

Akkara Foundation Bekal is a Non-profitable Organization, established in 2018, based in Kasaragod, Kerala. The trust has been formed primarily to initiate medical and psycho-social assistance in the upliftment of physically and mentally challenged individuals. Akkara Foundation palliative wing was started in 2018 to provide services for the needy patients. Palliative wing provides services of  doctors, nurses, social workers, counselors, physiotherapists and home care services also. Akkara foundation palliative wing has around 600 beneficiaries in 6 panchayts.

        As part of palliative day, palliative day celebration is conducted in Akkara foundation.The palliative day programme started at 10:30 am. The programme started with the welcome dance performed by parents followed by welcome speech by Mr. Muhammed Yasir, Manager Akkara Foundation. The programme was inaugrated by Mr. Akkara Muhammed Abdul Aziz, Chairman of Akkara Foundation.Inaugration of new van of palliative wing was done by Mr. Shanavas padhoor, vice-president,kasaragod District panchayat.  Block panchayat President Mrs. Siji Mathew, Muliyar Gram Panchayat President Mrs. PV Mini, Chengala Panchayat President Mr. Khader Badria, Muliyar Ward Member Mrs. Shyamala, Muliyar Medical Officer Dr. Shamima, Health Superintendent Mr . Ashraf, Mr. Kunjikrishnan Nair, Shri. KB Muhammad Kunj, Mr. Latif Kubadanje, Mrs. Sulekha Mahim, Mr. BC Kumaran, Mr. Masood Bovikanam, Dellampadi Health Inspector Mrs. Suresh has gathered and delivered felicitations for the programme. Around 80 patients gathered for the function.

                The volunteers from people’s cooperative Arts and science college, Malik Dinar Nursing college, Green Woods Arts and science collegel and Govt. College,  Kasargod  volunteered for the programme. Various cultural programmes  like Thiruvathira, oppana, Magic Show, YogaShow , Dance etc. were organized as part of palliative day celebration performed by patients,parents, interns, staffs and volunteers. Experience was shared by  Akkara foundation palliative beneficiaries. Around 600 people from 6 panchyats joined the programme and provided a thankful feedback about the programme. The celebration wrapped up with the ‘Shinkarimelam’ by Kairali team. Mr. Moideen poovakada, Palliative leader of Akkara foundation delivered the vote of thanks.

SCREENING CAMP AT TRIKARIPUR GRAMA PANCHAYAT

As part of the community extension acticvity Akkara Foundtaion in association with Trikaripur gram Panchayat, CHC and PTH organized an screening camp at Kaikottukada school,Trikaripur for special need children below 12 years ,Various professionals from Akkara Foundation conducted screening of around 40 children with various disabilities and provided them with proper guidance and support .Screening camp was inaugurated by Mr.Sathar(Panchayat president) and chief guest of the day was Mr.Akkara Mohammed Abdul Aziz (chairman Akkara Foundation).

Akkara Foundation celebrated Christmas with children and their parent. The staffs, children and parents all together participated in various games and shared the sweet of joy, various cultural performances were presented and Christmas friend gifts were also handed over by children and staffs.

AWARENESS SESSION AT TRIKARIPUR PANCAHAYAT

Akkara Foundation  PTH organized a training program among Asha Workers and Anganwadi teachers for early detection of disabilities  in children. The training program were initiated by Akkara Foundation Kasaragod, and collaborated with Trikaripur panchyath, in association with PTH Trikaripur and ST. Mary’s college Thrissur.The training program were conducted at C.H Muhammad koya Memorial  Town Hall on 8 th December.Trikaripur Panchayath vise president EM Anandavalli carried out the presidential address and the Panchayath president Sathar Vadakkumbadam inaugurated the programme. Ward member Faiz UP welcomed and Akkara Foundation manager Mohmmed Yasir explained the project. The training programme was carried out by Akkara foundation Center for Child development Head and Physiotherapist Jini Raj R and Psychology Department Head Fathimath Thasniya lead the whole training. The main objective of the training was to create awareness about the importance of providing early intervention and continuous support to children suffering from various Psycho-physical conditions. An outline for conducting the survey with the collaboration of Asha workeres, Anganawadi workers and Palliative volunteers were also presented to prepare a comprehensive report on differently abled persons in the panchayath. Trikkaripur Block Panchayath Member Najeeb TS consolidated the vote of thanks. ).Akkara Foundation were able to  educate 115 people regarding disability and  its interventions and at the end  screening tools were distributed to them  as a study material .

Social Justices department Kasaragod organized district Kalolsavam for special need children on 5/12/2022 at Bekal Club .Akkara Foundation Children participated in various programs like mimicry,speech,action song, story telling, clay modelling ,light music ,fancy dress etc and bagged  1st runner up position in the  district disability Kalo  lsavam  .

AN EVENING AT BEKAL FORT – CULTURAL EVENING

Akkara Foundation in association with Tourism Department as part of World  Heritage Week  initiated trip and a cultural eve for special need children and for their family members  at Bekal fort at Kasaragod district .More than 50 children and their family members were accompanied by therapist and staffs from Akkara Foundation .Each special need child was allotted with volunteers and a staff to monitor them .The  function was officially  inaugurated by Mr.Midhun Premraj(Assistant Collector, Kasaragod)  and various official’s from tourism department expressed their felicitation and happiness for being a part of this great event .After the official ceremony the cultural eve started were the staffs , children and their parents exhibited their extraordinary cultural talents and entertained the whole group .

AWARENESS SESSION @KASARAGOD MUNICIPALITY

As part of the Community Extension, Akkara Foundation in association with LIONS Club and Kasaragod Municipality initiated an awareness session for ASHA workers and Anganwadi Teachers on the topic “Importance of early identification and early intervention of disability among children”,their were more than 67 participants .The Official inaugural ceremony was organized in which the Welcome address was delivered  by Shafi A Nellikkunnu (Secretary, Lions Club Of Chandragiri),presidential  speech was done by Mohamed Yasir (Manager, Akkara Foundation)the session was officially inaugurated by Adv. V M Muneer (Chairman, Kasaragod Municipality) after that  felicitations were delivered  by Abbas Beegum(Chairman Standing Committee),Sukumaran MJF (Regional Chairperson, Lions 318E),Ashraf Aiwa (Vice president, Lions Club of Chandragiri) , Farook Kazmi (Addnl. Cabinet secretary, Lions 318E) and M A Siddique (Treasurer, Lions Club of Chandragiri) Ms.Vinduja V Kumar (PRO,Akkara Foundation) winded up the ceremony by delivering  the vote of thanks .

After the Inaugural ceremony the resource persons of the day Mr.Jinil Raj J R (HOD of Centre for Child Development, Akkara Foundation and Fathimath Thasniya M A (Consultant Psychologist) took the session and cleared the queries through an interaction session with the participants .

CHILDRENS DAY CELEBRATION

Children’s day was celebrated at the institution, on behalf of the day observation all children were gifted with roses and sweets on first day and on the second day (16/11/2022) various cultural competitions were organized such as fashion show, movie show, painting completion and memory game and all the winners were given with prizes  and certificates .It was really a great opportunity  for all the  children to exhibit their talents and also for building their self-confidence .

Akkara Foundation organized awareness program “NIRAV” policies and schemes for differently abled children’s, association with Sree Shabareesha College Kottayam and Peoples Cooperative Arts & Science College Munnad .A awareness section was organized for parents of differently abled children’s about schemes and policies of differently abled children’s at Kinningar Community Hall on 4/11/2022 Friday at 11:00am.The inaugural ceremony started with a prayer song by the trainees of social workers Ms.Bindhya .B ,Ms.LittyMol.Mr Moideen (Leader of Palliative care )delivered the welcome speech and Mrs.Geetha (Ward Member )did the  presidential address.The session was inaugurated by Mr.JayaKumar.K(Health and Education Standing Committee),he expressed his gratitude to be a part of the awareness program and inaugurated the session by wishing all success .The session was handled by Mr.Mohammed Yasir (Manager,Akkara Foundation)about the topic schemes and policies of differently abled children.

                 The resource person Mr.Mohammed Yasir explained to the parents about different schemes and policies like Board Disability Certificate ,UDID Card ,Scholarships,Swashraya scheme,Thalolam- the scheme for economic support provided for differently abled childrens etc.At the end of the session the resource person clarified the doubts of the parents abpout the schemes and policies .After the class application forms for Disability certificate and Niramaya Insurance .The program concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms.Athira Gopi .

Akkara foundation celebrated Eid by conducting Meelad fest for differently abled children various cultural competition   were organized for children such as storytelling and recitation, for than 60 people including the children and parents participated in the fest from different parts of Kerala, each competition was judged by professionals and the winners were given away with memento and certificates .
